Our boat passed by some rocky reefs where a variety of waterfowls were perching as we cruised over Lake Naivasha. Among them was this serious looking Pink-backed Pelican, Pelecanus rufescens. This photo pictures its large beak and pouch, very efficient fishing tools. Even the hook at the tip of the bill is clearly visible.
